Lee Loader for a Semi?

Has anyone used the basic Lee loader to reload for a semi? I know they say it's not recommended because it only re-sizes the neck. I'd only be using cases that were fired in the same chamber from new.

Anyone try this?

Sorry, can't say as I've ever tried it but I would say it'll be painfully slow going. A Lee Loader is fine for small quantities or target loads but most people find them too slow for volume shooting and use a single stage press. Most pistol guys and many that shoot semi auto even find that too slow and use progressive presses. So..... while it might work, I think you'll find it takes too long to make volume when shooting any quantity.

IF the cartridges were to chamber 100% freely, without any - none at all - hanging up, it might be OK.
There are quite a number of rifles in which a hesitant cartridge is a real safety issue. Out of battery slamfires can result, which are not a good thing. You really do not want a centerfire rifle to discharge unlocked a few inches in front of your nose.
It is not a recommended practice for good reason.
 
I thought neck sizing brass for my AR would be fine, but the rate of FTE shot up, went back to full sizing and most of the problems went away, still neck size my bolt action stuff though.
 
I would think that notwithstanding neck sizing only, you would find the Lee Loader painfully monotonous to use. Even a regular single stage press would be a huge step up.
