Not sure why but I am ending up with a bit of powder on the shell plate after loading 500 rounds of 9 mm today.

I upgraded to the spring actuated autodisc pro and this is the first time I have noticed this. Previously I used the chain activated one and never noticed this before,

I cannot tell if the powder is coming from cases that are charged when they are advancing to the next stage on the press or if it is a bit of powder weeping from the autodisc when the shell plate lowers or during charging.

All screws are tight that hold the powder disc system together and checking the powder charge shows they are consistent at 3.4 grains of TG per charge.

The amount of powder on the shell plate is nominal -I didn't weigh it but eyeballing it it was maybe 2 or 3 grains or so after loading 500 rounds in one session.

I checked the disc itself to see if maybe there was an imperfection in the plastic but it seems fine to me,

Anyone have any ideas as to what may be causing this?

The only other change is that I am loading a bit faster with the press as it is running smoother than before due to some tuning and frog lube on the underside of the shell plate.

Any info is appreciated

Marc

my 3 pro1000's all leak powder from the auto disk, but it doesn't fall onto the shell plate and it's not alot of powder that spills. i do however get powder on the shell plate with 9mm when i go faster. it's happens when the shell plate starts to turn as it flicks when it first moves which takes some of the powder from the case.

Markit, ive had a Loadmaster for 8 or so yrs now & using either the disks or charge bar, it leaks a little powder now & again. I randomly check powder throws ( 1st, 10th,20th, then after 100 or so) & both devices dispense accurately for my plinking/practise purposes. I wouldnt be too concerned unless you are competing in Bulls Eye Pistol Comp's. SgtRock
