Hi Folks. I have the Lee Loadmaster for 9mm. (Insert all the Dillon guys saying 'buy a dillon' here), and was shopping at X-reload for some parts to convert it to .223 when I noticed that the primer feed system that they have

http://www.x-reload.com/lee-primer-feed-small-for-loadmaster/

doesn't look like the plastic square that came with mine. I tend to have issues loading the primers in to the Loadmaster. Once it gets going it's fine, but then when it runs low to 10-20 primers I start getting missed primers again.

Has anyone used these 'round' primer trays and are they any better?

Thanks

I have the round ones and sometimes it takes a few shakes to get them started from a fresh tray (but I purposely wedge two in the exit hole to load the tray) however, once you start loading they never jamb on me. They just keep feeding untill I run right out of primers

The X-Reload link that you provided shows the old primer system. Lee has completely updated the system and this link shows the current models which ship with all new Load Master presses:
Lee Load Master Small (90075) & Large (90077) Primer Feeders

I have two Load Master presses, one with a Small Primer setup, the other with a Large. For the primer feeder to work reliably, you need to make sure that you add more primers as soon as the triangular tray becomes empty. That way, there is always the weight of a column of primers in the feed chute to ensure reliable feed. I purchased a 2-pack of Lee Folding Primer Trays from Higginson Powders as they are a Lee Distributor and (almost) always have all Lee parts & accessories in stock at lowest prices

Having a second filled tray ready to go as soon as the first tray becomes empty speeds up the process and ensures trouble-free primer feed. The On/Off primer flow gate in the tray is outstanding for this purpose:
Lee Folding Primer Tray - 2-pack (90606)

Most issues can be resolved by watching one or more videos on Lee Precision's YouTube Channel. They current have 16 videos for the Load Master and are constantly adding more:

Thanks. I have the square one as well, but wanted to check which was actually the newer version. That is a good idea. I'll order a couple of spare trays.

oh, maybe the new one is better, I don't know, my loadmaster has always been hell to prime so I just bought an xl650 and it works all the time...
and the more I think about it, I should have bought a 1050 for the swaging on press.
