I am getting ready to order some equipment for casting. I see there are two different molds available for 9mm from Lee. The TL356-124-2r 6 Cavity and the .356-125-2R 6 Cavity. From what I have read, the TL is the tumble lube mold and the other is the mold used when using a lube sizer. I am planning on getting a lube sizer right from the start so I would order the mold without the TL designation, correct? I would also like some input on lube sizers. The Lyman model seems to popular, any user feedback on this or other brands?

TL is for the tumble lube boolits, correct. IF you feel you want to size and lube, by way of a lubersizer then by all means order the non tl one. I have to say tho, do not underestimate the TL ones, that and when they say you can shoot them with out sizing they are correct. With the right load they can be very accurate. I heard nothing but, "ohhh you have to size them..... or else they wont shoot." So when I tried them non sized and they shot well I was very impressed, and happy to leave the sizing step in the past. I shoot the TL TC 124grns and love em!

I think STAR makes the best lubesizer, fwiw

I tumble lube all my cast bullets TL design or not. Id get the non TL mold cast your bullets buy some alox or the stuff dragon lube sells and load them up. Cast bullets shoot better big

Pretty much agree with both guys above, you can tumble lube either bullet design.

For the amount that I shoot the Lyman 4500 works just fine (maybe 10k of cast per year). I make my own lube (Bens red) for it as well, but if your planning on shooting alot then I would invest in the star sizer as well.

I pan lube and size. It makes the bullets cleaner and they are the all the same diameter. I use an old shell case with the correct inside diameter with a rod as a plunger to pull the bullets out of the lube and push them out. It time consuming though.

If you haven't bought a mold yet check out the lee 6 banger 356-120tc. Work excellent in 5 different 9s I've used it in. Range scrap used and they cast at 125gr. I use a lubrisizer as well.

I have had good success with a few of the Lee TL moulds, and poor success with them too. Three of my TL moulds, specifically, the 125 TL 9mm, the TL 158 SWC 38spl and the TL 200g 45acp bullet moulds all cast undersized bullets. Better than 70% tumbled through the target. Believe me when I say that I tried everything to make the 3 moulds cast to size. I ended up walking away from them. I replaced all three with Lee NOT TL moulds with much better success…
