I'm considering a 44 Rem Mag revolver. If I were to keep my loads moderate, say in the 1100 fps range with hard cast lead bullets, would a Lee Loader in 44 Rem Mag resize my brass enough that I would be free of functioning problems? Do any of you have experience with this?

Only if each chamber is exackly the same diameter,which is highly unlikely.
Lee loaders are not for beginners, I have seen too many people get into serious problems with them.Buy yourself a Lee- reloading book, challenger press & deluxe 44 mag reloading dies & save yourself a lot of grief.
