Lee presses and kits, any good ?

I have the Lee Classic Cast press & also an RCBS Rockchucker. Both are good presses but I find I use the Lee more. I also had a a Lee Classic turret that I used for handgun loading, it worked very well for me. I no longer reload for handgun & sold it to a friend in our club & he appears to be very pleased with his purchase.

As far as dies, I have different brands, Lee, RCBS, Lyman, Redding, Hornady & Forster. They all work fine & do the job I expect of them.

I do agree that some of the Lee lower priced products do leave something to be desired eg: the Lee Safety scale & their hand primer tool. That said I am sure that many reloader's got their start with Lee equipment as it was affordable & once they gained experience they were able to upgrade as required.

YMMV, but in my experience the less features a Lee Press has the better it will work, but it will never be a great press.

I have had 3 lee presses, one single stage and 2 so called progressives. Neither of the progressives ever functioned properly, lots of jams, constant tinkering, and extremely frustrating, especially when reloading 1000 + per month for two ipsc shooters.

The Lee Loadmaster I had was an unmitigated disaster. I sold it for $100 on EE with full disclosure after approximately 20 exploding primers detonated in the chute sending plastic shrapnel into my face and across the reloading room for the second time. The primer feed system sucks and could not be a worse design - if it is not skipping primers it is exploding them or seating them sideways. I had rebuilt this press several times with new parts. Watched all the DIY fixes on youtube (note if there are a lot of “how to fix this” or “DIY improvement / modification” videos on youtube regarding a certain brand or model of press avoid it like the Coronavirus).

I still have a single stage Lee that works So So but it is not great for precision reloading.

Buy once cry once.

For single stage RCBS rockchuckers just work.

For progressives choose Blue (I have a hornady lock n load ammo plant and regret not buying a Dillon 650 every time i use it).

My 2 cents.
