LEE PRO 4-20 Not Impressed!!!!

Pic 1 and 2 is bottom and top screw set, just let handle plate set at mid, leave enough space for valve open, but don't touch the bottom, so the valve will get all weight from plug, during the casting u should manage lead flow speed, less lead in pot lead will flow slower, turn valve plug to clean valve(push down then left right turn), then 1/8 turn to open up lead flow speed.
Pic 3 is another side of the homemade base
Prep pot, when it new, check the plug first, smooth it out if rough surfaces (the surface touching valve )

Left is wet white with tool blue 2:1
Right is wet white with candy purple 1:1
Also u can make out some candy finish
Wet white mix with candy red 2:1 or candy green 1:1
Wet white considered base coating to cover lead and candy color for make up will show at end
Chrome finish and wet black can use for base coating too

Mine works absolutely fine from the moment I took it out of the Box. Actually I am quite impressed how good and efficient this little smelter is. Important thing is to make sure the Lead is very hot otherwise the Valve may stick which can lead to dripping.

Thumps up for another well made product from Lee and thanks to Budget Shooter supply selling them at a fair price.

I have had both, leaks and plugs. A lot of the troubles were me though. I didn't realize just how much crud stays on the bottom of the pot when fluxing. I have a little scraper now to work the bottom and sides when fluxing, and that helps keep crud out of the spout.

For plugs, I have a very fancy paperclip. For leaks I have found getting things hot, and "bouncing/turning" the valve will stop most. I have also set up on a large cookie sheet, so reclaiming the dripped lead is easy. These problems also seemed to lessen with use of the pot, but I'm not sure if that would have happened without learning a bit myself.
 
Never had a problem with mine. It gets clogged up from time to time I just a quick ream with a tip cleaner. I heard of guys using a bigger weight on the handle. If I get a drip I move it a bit and it stops. Mine runs a little hot my setting for casting is between 2.5 and 3.5
