Lee R.E.A.L any good?

I have a T/C Hawken in .50 and 1x48 twist, she's a joy to shoot.

My question is: has anyone here had any experience shooting the cast Lee R.E.A.L bullet through a 1x48 twist? These hand-poured bullets are supposed to be v.accurate and eliminate the need to swab between shots.

In .50cal they come in 250gr and 320gr, wondering if heavier/longer would present greater accuracy or just be heavier on the shoulder.

I have tried these and Minnie and T/C MaxiBall and T/C MaxiHunter and Great Plains and Sabots and Powerbelt bullets. Only 405 gr Powerbelts shoot well in 1:48 twist (10 shots in 2.5") groups of others measured in feet not inches. 295 gr Powerbelts are not good either, only 405 gr. shoot well in all twists but actually prefer 1:48 to 1:28. If you can find some grab them (no longer made). Check stock in Cabelas. Maybe the 348 gr might not be too bad?
 
I tried some of the ones that CGN'r "Huntsman" made. They wouldn't fly in either my $100 CVA or his $800 Encore. They would be good over a bear bait, or if shots were under 50 yards, but that is about it.
 
They wouldn't shoot worth a crap in my Lyman, but the Plains bullet from Lyman was awesome in it, shot much better then round ball too....the barrel was a 1-66" twist too!
 
My son's TC Hawken .50 shoots real nice with 80gr FFG and a home cast maxi-ball lubed with Crisco and it's a 1-48" twist? Harold

It should - That's almost exactly what it was ment to shoot. Or a round ball.
T/C's 1:48 was designed to shoot the Maxi or a round ball. IIRC 80 grains was the recomended load.
 
I have a Traditions Sidelock .50cal ML. I have cast and shot both 250, 320gr R.E.A.L. bullets. I Find extremely accurate and have shot 20 times without bore cleaning before packing it in.
