Well...I have it on a perfectly level surface, I have finally figured out where the "0" hash is supposed to be when you zero it...and I am consistently coming up .3-.6 grains short of the actual weight as tested by my friends reliable scale. I wish there was an affordable reliable digital scale but my understanding is that in the under 200.00 market there is not. Worst case scenario I am zeroing it .1 too heavy as this scale is tough to read. I also have to re-zero it constantly.

Any suggestions? Any trick to this scale that I may be missing?

When I was using my Lee scale, I found that you had to play with the location of the beam on the body. It can be shifted back and forth a bit. Too far one way or the other, the beam will drag on the edge causing errors or the end will drag/ get too close to the magnet and cause errors. If you can find the sweet spot, it'll be accurate. You might go mad finding it, but it is there.

lol good point! He has multiple checks and balances though.

That rangemaster looks good...comes with check weights too...interesting. I will do some more research on it.
 
If you don't have calibrating weights like me. Try this, weigh your bullets or use some high quality match bullets e.g. Sierra HPBT or Nosler bullets as calibrating weights. They are quit consistent in weight as a match grade, within plus or minus .1 gr or less. Mine RCBS 5-0-5 and 5-0-10 scales are calibrated this way and I've never had any problems.

Well, I am not quite going to recycle it, but I did just order the RCBS Rangmaster 750. It is on for just 99.00 at natchezss.com/product.cfm?contentID=productDetail&prodID=RC98927 ! I don't know how bad shipping is as they email it separately. I will update when they do.
 
I've had my LEE scale for a good 25 year's now.Went to an RCBS electronic scale for a bit but when it crapped out(and they all do) I went back to my old tried and true LEE.
I find it settle's down quicker now after this much use.
If you drop the scale beam and it doesn't break, it's good to use.No if's about it!
