Lee shipping prices are crazy!

If you want a company to replace everything for free if it breaks you have to pay the extra to have that lifetime warranty(as in pay double what it's worth and have it replaced free for life). Lee equipment is like every other product on the market...you break it you fix or replace it at YOUR cost. Last I checked if I break my chainsaw I'm the one responsible for repairing or replacing it, not Husky...

The fact that Lee offers as good of warranty service as they do is amazing given the price of the products.

Lee's been good to me. After something like 20+ years of service, a part wore out and broke on my turret press. I brought it in to my local pusher to see about a repair. He sent it to Lee and they sent me a new turret press, free of charge.

I called them and told them I was in Canada.
They asked me to email them a pic and I did.
My new part for my Loadmaster showed up about a week later at no cost to me.

Yup, same results for me as well.

Some people see that Lee is half the price, that must mean the there half as good. Couldn't be more wrong. I tell all my friends that if there happy spending twice as much as I do on reloading equipment and getting the same results as me, go for it as some people just want a blue press in there reloading room. The money I save on a press buying Lee means I get to spend more on components.

Well if it's in their warranty then let them know it's something that should be covered free of charge.

What I'm thinking is that the offer of half price for a new one is with the assumption this is something no longer covered under the manufacturer's warranty due to being a discontinued product or it's been long enough the factory warranty expired.

Lee has a two year warranty and the product was bought 14 months ago. It should be covered under waranty, but they want me to pay half. I know Lee does not have a lifetime warranty, nor do I expect it for the price. However, this is still under warranty and they are doing a worse job than other brands with both being under a replacement warranty.

I'm not sure of the lack of 'lifetime' warranty from Lee. I have a few cases in point:

  1. Lee 6-cavity mould belonging to a buddy that he had used to cast literally thousands of 9 mm. He left it with me so that I could 'learn' how to cast properly. Well, suffice to say I broke the sprue handle completely off. Not the wood, the metal part.
  2. Broke the wood off another mould due to my overzealous thumping of the mould to get a boolit out.
  3. Tore off the core pin from a buddy's slug mould. I guess the lead wasn't hot enough or something or maybe in my haste didn't prep the mould well enough. Tore it off with a channel-lock whilst trying to get the solidified slug out.
  4. Borrowed another slug mould and guess what...tore that one off too. I know, I have great friends eh. :D

There are other, more embarrassing tales to tell. but I think you get the point...I am rough with my tools.

But guess what? Every single time, Lee came through for me with a no questions asked replacement, sent to me for FREE. All I did was email them, explaining what I did in full honesty. A few times, they also took the trouble to explain to me why it broke, and how I can avoid it in future. FYI, none of these tools were new...they were all YEARS old.

In my book...that's not good service. That's GREAT service. :)

I think their dies are just great, and they're constantly coming out with new and innovative ways to help us, the reloader with our hobby. I'm happy to support RCBS as well, due to my experience with their fantastic warranty (I won't go into detail exactly WHAT I broke from RCBS, but break it did!) but dollar for dollar, I can buy lots more powder and primer if I use Lee stuff.

In our hobby, that's a plus every time.

for new orders, they will tack on 35% to encourage you to use the dealers. I doubt any of the other companies could make a better press at the same price point.
