I just purchased a new lee 3 hole turret press. It takes 14 pounds pressure to raise or lower the ram. I resized 20 cases last evening and my arm was getting sore. (I'm no Charles Atlas) I lubed the ram with dri-lube, gun oil, grease, penetrating oil, and sewing machine oil. nothing seems to help. Any suggestions?

can you see any scraping marks on the ram?

i haven't bought a new press (all mine were used) did you have to assemble the handle? if so i wonder if your over-tightened the bolts or misaligned the parts somehow?

pictures of the arm and press would be best.

That ram should darn near go up and down with your little finger until the case hits the sizing die. With the ram all the way up/handle all the way down, loosen the nut slightly that is right in the middle of the piece that joins the steel ram to the handle. It's pretty much the only one. Loosen little by little, and your problem should be solved.

Heavily lube it and run it as many times as you can. If you see marks or lines in the lube you found your catch, if not you've over tightened something

No scrape marks, and I did assemble the handle. I tightened it as much as I dared with a 15" power bar from my 1/2" socket set. It is supposed to be tightened to 25 ft lbs but I don't have a torque wrench. I'll have to try to borrow one tomorrow. I can't seem to tighten it enough to stop the handle from turning,

After awhile, mine started to behave like that. I had been lubing it with "Jig-a-Loo"
Took it all apart and cleaned it up and gave it a spray of WD-40.
Every 500 or so rds., I wipe it down and give it another shot.
Has been working OK, since.
