Lee turret presses?

i have all the tools and scales and what not, already just looking at ramping up the process from a single stage since im going through lots of 223 now and will soon be going through 9mm. So i need: the turret press, primer feeder, auto disk poweder measure and a die to allow the charging of the .223 's. that sound about right?

Whats the difference between the classic and the regular turret in the kit?
 
The classic uses steel where the regular turret uses Lee's cast "mystery metal" for much of the ram to handle linkage system and press body. The classic also costs twice as much, and doesn't come as part of a kit.

You nailed it. You're going to need a universal charging die, the auto-disk measure, the Lee safety prime or hand autoprime kit, along with the press. I bought all my stuff from reloaders.ca and it worked out to be about 11% cheaper than wholesale sports because I paid less for the parts and no PST, shipping was the same.

I could have driven the 120km to WSS to save on shipping, but I'd have paid for fuel and PST so I just waited and had it delivered. It was like Christmas morning opening that box.
 
I didn't realize so many people use those sh$tty powder disks. I heard so much about them I never used them at all. I put the powder micrometer into the auto-disk right away. Just adjust to liking and go, no screwing around with the disks that throw different weights for different powders.
It's only a few bucks from Higginsons.....

Go with the Pro Auto disk. It has a shut off feature & the hopper attaches to the base with machine screws & brass nuts. The standard Auto disk uses metal screws with eventually strip the threads in the plastic hopper.

It is well worth the extra cost.

That rotate to shut off the powder set up is pretty slick no doubt.

I demand to see a link because I think playing with discs is retarded.
 
The turret press will let you load about 100-150 per hour of pistol. Their loadmaster press will easily double that. The Dillions are good presses if you can justify the cost, I couldn't so I have the turret press for rifle, some pistol and the Loadmaster for doing my 9mm & .40cal
 
I bought my initial setup from Armco, and then the upgrade package which includes micrometer, the better auto disk powder dispenser thingy, primer feeder, etc etc etc

All from lee precision dot com. To set up load for .223
You will need:
223 shell holder
resizer/decapper die
universal rifle charger die, the disk auto powder dispenser thingy screws into this die.
bullet seater die
double disk kit.

So really, you only need a 3 disk turret.
 
i reload 9mm and .45 and love the turret press. I have 2 turrets loaded with the 2 different calibre dies so you dont have to switch the dies you just change the entire turret plate. I am thinking about starting to reload 308 as well and think that I will probably just use it as a single stage for the precision rifle loads. I have had this thing for about a year and love it. Only regret is that I shoulda bought a progressive cuz I shoot way too much haha.

Do you have 2 auto-disk powder measures or do you just share one for both calibres.
 
I've loaded tens of thousands of rounds on my old Lee turret press, they've stayed at roughly the same price (actually a tad cheaper now) for 20 years so you could say I've easily had my money's worth. Easy, safe and cheap - what's not to like.
