I am thinking of buying a 270 win but the problem is that i'm a south paw i've looked around and found that tikka, savage,and remmington all offer lefthand rifles i was hoping for some insight on what to buy. I'm also open to other makes and models, looking to spend around the 800 mark or less gun will be used for general shooting, occasional coyote and moose

I used to be partial to Remington 700's. However, now I have shot a Savage, I can't see myself going back to a Remington. Savage seems to take the accuracy thing seriously and can provide the features to shoot small holes in the target. I think Remington has gone in the ditch. My old one has a nice crisp 2.5 lb trigger pull, from the factory, not modified. Now I hear they are set by 300 lb guerrilla lawyers. No thoughts on the Tikka other than I don't like hammer forged barrels.
Don't forget Ruger and (wait for the Xbolt) Browning.
All of these guns have different features ,so get to a gunstore and try them all out.
Handle the right hand versions if they don't have LH on the shelf.
If you buy a Tikka or Browning you might lose your magazine in the snow.
Buy a Ruger and you may need to fix the trigger or the bedding.
Hunt with a Remington and the bolt handle can get bumped and the gun won't go bang.
Or your ##### will fall off.

"...looking to spend around the 800 mark..." Hi. You won't normally get a Tikka with sights for that much. Goble's(not the least expensive shop on the planet, but they're close to you.) price list indicates $807.50 for a Tikka T3 Synthetic. Goes up from there. However, they are listing a left hand, .270, T3 Synthetic, on their Used Rifle page, at $695.00 though. Says it's new, but it's at their Tillsonburg store. No sights. It'd be worth a look, but I wouldn't wait too long.

Don't discount a used rifle. It takes a great deal of abuse to damage a modern hunting rifle. You might find a used .270 with a higher end scope on the used rifle shelf. Nothing on Goble's site.
