Looking to purchase a left handed 7 mm reg mag. Just like to hear from other lefties on what make and model they would recommend. Leaning towards a tikka t3 lite or hunter, but a little worried about the weight. Looking to build a long range gun for the range and maybe some hunting. Any suggestions.

Building a long range gun is often done on a Remington 700... for good reasons. Excellent accuracy potential, extremely strong and safe, probably the most aftermarket accessories available...

I have a Remington 700 LH with DM, I have been really happy with it so far, I have not downed a moose with it yet, but I have not seen one either. Very accurate out to the 200yd that I practiced at a few years ago.

I currently own a lh 700 laminate stainless in the 7 mag. I have owned a Ruger 77 in 7mag and a hawkeye in 7-08. The best feature of the hawkeye was the positive safety. The 77 was more accurate than the hawkeye and the 700 is more accurate than the 77 was. The 700 is a custom built for long range and weighs in at 10 pounds. A bit heavy for hunting but I walk slow anyways. Currently all my bolt guns are Remington 700's. I can't comment on the tikka cause I have never been interested in them. People I know who have the tikkas seem to like them but I am not a fan of the plastic. I guess what I am trying to say is I also wouldn't hesitate to recommend the remington.

In left hand your options are limited in factory type production rifles. You have Tikka, Browning, Savage, Remington and Ruger. As mentioned above the Savage in 116 FLHSS had some weight to it so this will tame a bit of recoil. Most if the other ones are a bit lighter. The Savage has some nice features, and it all comes down to choice. With the Browning and Tikka rifles the bolt throw is less then the others so there is less chance of interference with the scope when cycling the bolt.

I've been very happy with my left hand Browning Abolt stainless stalker in .300WM so far. Looked at the tikkas pretty hard but the browning just felt better to me. Accuracy has been exllent.
