So I'm a lefty. It kind of sucks when it comes to bolt action rifles. I want to buy a fairly accurate bolt action .22, and I was looking at the Savage MK2. It comes left handed, but seemingly only in a wooden stock! I love synthetics...does anyone know if its possible to get this left handed? Otherwise, should I a. suck it up and learn to use my right hand, b. go with the wooden one, or c. buy a different .22, and if so which one? Thanks for your advice!

Can't think of a lefty Savage MK2 in synthetic.

So I'd like to recommend one that a buddy bought last month...a fantastic unique action.....the Browning T-Bolt composite sporter lefty...look it up on their website.

I really like the double helix magazines.
 
That's another nice one, but it's still twice the price of a MK2 and if I'm buying a wooden stock i might as well go for the savage left handed one.
 
i really like the Savage BTVS mk2 lefty i bought. sure its a wood stock, but in my opinion is one really nice looking rifle. you can also get the same barrel action and trigger setup in a non thumb-hole stock i believe; if you don't like that style. I used to hate the idea of thumb hole stocks, for whatever reason. especially laminate wood ones. but now that i have one, it really catches my eye. And it really feels natural to go from working the bolt, to grip/trigger without taking my eye off the target. it just fits so nice. aside from that, i am really happy with the btvs performance, even with bulk federal 40gr. you can shoot ragged holes at 50/100 with it if you are a good shot.
 
Lefty tupperware .22's don't exist, ask me how I know! :rolleyes:

That being said, I took a can of Krylon to a basic laminate MkII. :D


(If you get to handle and shoot a 93GL, there's no way you can't fall in love with it. :cool:)

I'm a lefty too but if I'm shooting from a bench, I prefer right hand actions. It is much easier to load, or catch your brass with centerfires if you reload. I have 2 lefty hunting rifles, the rest are right handed since most of my shooting is at a gun club off a bench. You might also consider a pump or lever action.
 
God that ones nice. Wooden stocks are starting to grow on me :p.

Would pump and lever have the same accuracy as bolt actions though?

Give savage a call. Its worth a shot to see if they can get you what you want.

I went the CZ 452 lux LH route. Its not synthetic but its a decent moa gun off the bench. A++++ on quality too.
 
I bought the Savage MKII lefty and used it for a summer. It was fine, shot well and had pretty much no charm at all, similar to the Savage 93GL in 17HMR I also owned. I sold it off and bought a used CZ452 on the EE and now have my first "never sell" rimfire. I really like this rifle and bought my wife a right handed 16" barrel version.

I paid a little more than double for the used CZ over either of the Savages and feel like I got a bargain. The CZs are a true joy to shoot.
