Looking for a new HMR17 to use for grouse, bunnies and general plinking.
Bolt action, lefty.
Presently have a Henry Golden Boy and a Savage 93R17 with the thumbhole stock, stainless heavy barrel, etc. Both are great shooters but not really practical for my needs.
Would prefer iron sights but they seem rare.
Interested in the Savage 93R17 with composite stock and regular barrel or the new B17, any comments or suggestions?
Thanks.

Buddy uses an HMR t-bolt sporter with the composite stock that he loves and would sell it for a left handed model in a second if he came across one. I had a savage 93R17 FVSS that shot every bit as good as the t-bolt target model I replaced it with. But always wanted a t-bolt and I like the wood stock and the 10 round mag that the savage didn't have. Not familiar with the B17

I would recommend the CZ 452 american if you can find one. I have one in a LH and it is superbly accurate.

In all my searching, the only LH 17 hmr I found with iron sights was the older Marlins. If you're dead set on irons, try finding one of those!

Gobigorgohome, did CZ ever make a left handed Lux in 17hmr? I don’t recall ever seeing one, and if you haven’t either, they must have never made them.

They still make a left handed lux; you just need a 17 barrel.

Meroh,

It would need to be a left handed barrel ie: the extractor cut on the left side. The 452 is notoriously difficult to rebarrel as well, from what I understand.

I hope I’m wrong!

You are right about the 452; however the 455 and the new 547 are a relatively easy change. I think the extractor cut would be fairly simple for a Gunsmith to do.
