Where can I buy a left hand holster for an M&P40 41/2" that would be suitable for IPSC or IDPA? Searches showed up the name blade tech, but it doesn't look like they have a left hand hoster.

I believe the one that i got was the DOH....you can order it from bladetech directly for cheaper;)

If you want something unusual, such as a different colour, then it might make sense to order it directly. But special-ordering from Blade-Tech takes time. (You could expect 1-2 months to pass before you would have your special-feature, made-to-order, holster.)

If the exact holster that you want is in stock at Double Tap, you can get it there instead.

for IPSC yes it is...the only holster requirement for IPSC is that its on your belt and the trigger is covered. As for IDPA I am about 95% certain that it is legal as I have used it in IDPA comp but I could be wrong.

I believe for it to be legal for IDPA, the Dropped and Offset part needs to be removed.

Maybe I'm better off getting a more basic bladetech like this one at Brownells?

I've owned five different blade tech holsters, the belt holsters all use a common body which can use different attachments. So you can get a basic holster and change the belt attachment or add a drop to it at a later time, or molle clips... whatever suits.

That link is for a holster with their 'tek lok' system, I don't like it as much as the belt loops or paddle platforms that they offer but it will work fine and you don't have to remove your belt to put the holster on.

I've ordered both from dealers on this site and direct from the company before there were Canadian dealers. You'll get good service either way.

The tek lok worked fine for my USP and P30-L,...but I felt it was not the best for my Tanfoglio LImited Custom .40,...it was floppy,...allowing too much flex and at times screwed up my draw. The DOH with the belt attachment is better.
