While it has never happened to me (knock on wood), about 10 years ago I was standing beside a friend at a 150 rd Action Pistol match, when he opened his shooting box and discovered that he had only brought 18 rds of .45 with him. He was quite good about it and worked as an RO, all day since he was already there.

That reminds me.

I DID leave some ammo behind once. Came to Nationals in Brandon once only to find I left my ammo in a hotel room in Regina.

I bet i made those 401 drivers look like sissies when I went back to retrieve it........:p:D

Normally I'd scold someone who's transporting a loaded firearm within a populated area, but I noticed you were from Churchill. :p

A detachable mag w/rounds in it is fine.

Ammo - no.
Firearm - almost.
ALL of my camo (and warm) bowhunting clothing that was sealed inside a black garbage bag (with pine boughs) and which I didn't realize until we were out at our spot on COLD October morning.........once.;)

I use a fanny pack for my shot gun shells & just reverse so it's hands-on, front row - center - it holds about 16. The most shells I've ever shot off in a day was a dozen so it's pretty efficient for grouse. I forgot to top it up one day - and got to the covert with 3 shells and no extras in the trunk. I decided to go for it - yup -the birds were everywhere that morning and had spent my wads by 8:42, walked back to the car putting up 4 more lucky birds in the process ..... and left with a distinct odor of skunk lingering in the air.
