lefties shooting right handed semi's

Hi guys, I'm new to this forum and I'm trying to gather as much info as possible. I'm looking at buying either the Beretta extrema 2 or the Benelli SBE2. The Benelli comes left handed and drilled and tapped but I've read mixed reviews on it's recoil and handling. I like the SBE2 for the above reasons but fear troubles down the road.

I've read nothing but excellent reviews on the extrema 2 but I'm concerned with wether or not I can drill and tap it's receiver(beretta won't reply!) and also about the discharge of the empties. I've always shot right handed pumps but I'm not sure how a semi differs in it's ejection and possible gas/powder residue issues.

The gun will be for sporting clays, geese, ducks and deer hunting.

Any help is definitely appreciated.

I have found on occasion that I get a little powder residue in my eye. The big issue I have is that unless the safety can be reversed for lefties, they are a pain.

Yeah copy that. I am a leftie and prefer pumps but semis and pretty much everything but a rh bolt are easy to use. Rem even makes a lh pump but why bother. I finally bought a lh bolt 30-06 and I really like it. Just use it and get used to it. You will become comfortable with it quickly.
 
Thanks guys, Beretta extrema 2 it is! Can't wait! I'll make it more of a point to wear safety glasses, even when hunting just in case.

Unless you absolutely need a 3.5" chamber, I'd get a 391 instead of the extrema. the 3.5 won't cycle target loads, so you'll have to use heavy loads for sporting clays. This applies to all 3.5" autos, not just Beretta.

Unless the safety can be reversed, I won't buy a right hand ejection shotgun.
The Extrema's safety is not reversible, but the 391 is easily reversible.
 
I have a Lefty 870 and a Right handed Rem 1100 and Beretta AL391 Urika.

Never a problem shooting the semi-autos left handed. The 391 has the reversible safety and it has shims to make the stock adjust more for leftys too. AWESOME.

I get a real kick offering to let my Right handed friends shoot my left handed 870. Talk about bruised prides.... NOW YOU KNOW WHAT WE GO THROUGH!!!!! Hahahaha!
 
I do the same thing as you, I have a Rem 700 LH in 308 (which I'm convertin to a 338 Fed) and when we're at the range I encourage righties to shoot my rifle, they're lost! I say the same, we've been coping for so long you can't even take one shot!

I found on Beretta's site that they have a left hand safety conversion kit for $170.

yeah I was just gona mention the Fabarm. Look's like she will clean your wallet out. I am looking at a LH remington 870. I am left handed and wont settle for whats not comfortable, and I encourage you to do the same, but wow that xtrema 2 is awsome I must confess.

No way!!! I'm a lefty, and I think this is an advantage with a bolt gun.

When I'm shooting my Remington 700 Police .308 my hand never leaves the palm-swell, and my eye never leaves the targer....my right hand does all the work:).....cycling the action that is....:)
