As it's rather rather ovious, the swedish AG42B (Ljungman) is my favorite rifle. Their are lots of reasons for this, but one of the main ones is that it's very "lefty friendy" and being left handed this is a big "pro" for the rifle.
Anyway, I was toying with my CZ-858 last night and was comparing it to my AG42B in how the triangler dust cover and bolt carrier were similar in both designs, when I thought "Man, it would be sweet if the CZ had it's bolt carrier handle on the left. Seeing as how it's selector is on the right and VERY lefty-friendly, that would make it so much better."
So, then I thought "Why not? I've got an extra bolt carrier to play with so let's have some fun!"
I first took out the trusty dremel and used a cut-off wheel to remove the handle. Then I filed it flush and cold blued it over.
My orignal plan was to drill a hole clean throught the handle (length wise) tap it, drill a hole in the left side of the carrier, tap that as well and use a headless bolt to hold it on. The handle however is very solid and I could only drill half way through before the bit brought up solid
No matter, I just used the dremel as a laid and used a file to make two peices of metal into a faitly similar handle. I then taped them, attached the completed handle to the carrier and cold blued it all for good measure.
As I've said, this was a spare bolt carrier so I can switch back anytime, but I can't wait to try out my new "lefty-friendly" CZ.
Now the only question is....should I get a patent?
