Lately, I've been thinking that I need one of those leg rifles with the big hoop lever and short barrel and butt stock. I think there are a few different brands available. What are the good-better-best of the bunch? I think I'd rather have a round barrel rather than an octagon. And does any one cartridge seem to be more accurate in these rifles than the others? I'm not sure which one to choose, 357mag or 44mag or 45Long Colt. I would be just doing a little bit of fun hip shooting with it and it would always be along as a "feel good" rifle on the side by side ATV in black bear and cougar bush cruises. Also, how many options are there for the leg holsters? I would need a left leg holster. Thx for any help and info.
P.S. What sort of accuracy can one expect from these rifles say at 50 yards?

If you're talking about one of those Mare's Leg puma rifles, I do believe they just have shortened Winchester model 1892 furniture on them and you can turn the gun into a shortened barrel rifle with full size on demand.

I have a Rossi M92 Ranch Hand on order and I hope it gets here soon. I have heard many say there is a problem with the sights. The rear sight will not go down low enough to bring the point of impact onto the point of aim at a reasonable distance.

The one I am getting is in .44 mag. as i have another gun in that chambering.

I was tempted by the .45 colt though just because.

Should be some fun to hunt deer here in Alberta with it.

If you decide to buy one, be sure to look into the cost of feeding it. Not sure if you reload, or buy pre manufactured like I do (I don't shoot often enough to reload my own stuff). I recently picked up a Mod 94, in 30-30. Was going to get one in 38-55, but then saw that LeBaron has boxes of 20 of the 30-30 for $13.27. The 38-55? $40 a box. (same brand).

I know SFRC/ammo source has bulk 44mag, 357, etc, but I have not seen 45LC...

So just something to consider.

As someone mentioned, though, if you get the full size butt stock, you have a nice short bush gun! :)

I think the Rossi's seem to be good, but not sure. i don't own one....(but want one)
