Before i invest heavily into IPDA, i was wondering if a few of you more experienced guys can answer a few of my questions.

I just purchased a G17 Gen 4 and installed a lighter striker spring for a light light trigger pull.

I know IDPA is only of those competitions based on technique and not the equipment.

I checked the approved firearms list and i came across this:

Excluded Modifications
The following modifications are not allowed in any of the above-listed equipment divisions

A.Compensators of any type, including hybrid or ported barrels.
B.Add-on weights for a competitive advantage. This includes, but is not limited to weighted magazines or grips, tungsten guide rods, and brass magazine wells or grip plugs.
C.Heavy and/or cone style barrels without a barrel bushing (Exception: Permitted in ESP & CDP divisions only if the barrel is factory-issue and is 4.2" or shorter).
D.Sights of non-standard configuration (e.g. Ghost rings, Bo-Mar rib, red-dot sights, laser-grips, etc.).
E.Disconnection or disabling of any safety device on any gun.
F.Lights mounted on guns.

I dont see anything that states i cant alter the trigger of the gun. Would changing the trigger pull of my glock be ok?

On the other hand, i know for IPSC, they check the trigger pull of ur guns, ammo and basically all ur equipment before you compete.

PERMITTED Modifications (Inclusive list):
1. Sights may be changed to another conventional notch and
post type (see “sights” in glossary for further information).
2. Grips may be changed to another style or material that is
similar to factory configuration (no weighted grips; see
“weighted grips” in glossary for further details).
3. A slip-on grip sock and/or skateboard tape may be used.
4. Internal action work may be used to enhance trigger pull as
long as safety is maintained (no visible external modifications
allowed).

5. Reliability work may be done to enhance feeding and
ejection.
6. Internal accuracy may be worked to include replacement of
barrel with one of factory configuration and original caliber.
7. Plastic plugs may be used to fill the opening behind the
magazine well.
8. Custom finishes may be applied.
NOTE: The slide releases and magazine releases that are standard
on the Glock 34 and 35 models are available as a factory option on
all Glocks available in the USA. Because of this, that type of slide
release and magazine release are legal on all Glocks for SSP.

Thanks for the answer! But now i have another one.

Im planning on buying a G19 with a longer aftermarket barrel.

Would having the extended barrel break any of the rules?

Compact Guns
15 December 2008

After consideration of the unique laws in Canada, your exemption is granted for the use of 106mm "factory" barrels in Canada for compact guns. This will only apply to guns imported and changed to meet Canadian law. These barrels must in all other respects be the same as a standard factory barrel with the exception of slightly longer length.

These guns would be legal for SSP, ESP and CDP as long as they meet all other division criteria. As well as being legal for use in Canada, these models would be legal for any Canadian citizen to use in matches in the US as long as all US and Canadian Laws are met.

Thank you,

Thanks for the heads up!
Problem is the glock 19 im planning on buying comes with an IGB after market barrel.
I believe they are matchgrade (or at least they claim to be).. is there anyway to check if they are ok?
