I was reading the regs just now and noticed that for game other than migratory birds you can hunt them until 1 hour after sun set. It is Nov 3rd today and legal sunset time is 4:32. I read this at 5:32 and it was pitch black out. Am I correct in assuming that if a guy had a safe shot and was aware of his target and beyond that he could shoot a deer as late as 5:32 (one hour after legal sunset)?

I have attached a scan of the regs and the legal sunset sun rise chart?

I just want to be sure of this because it seems like it is basically pitch black by 5:30

yes. you are correct. but again, it also states that its up to the you(the hunter) to use your discretion. One hour after the sun goes down at the start of the season is alright. An hour now, well, its different because we lose light faster due to the time of the year. Also, the chances of you seeing game, say.... 50 minutes after sunset, you are probably looking at a silhouette of the animal and you msut know what is on the other side of the hill to make an ethical shot anyway. Again, its all up to the hunter and what kind of ethics he/she possesses.
