Legal Length for the 14 inch norinco

Knoxx Spec Ops folder and the Breacher's grip will work.
Sage makes a telescopic stock that would work as well.

I have a mossberg with an 18.5" barrel. With the pistol grip on it, its just over the 26" length. ( dont remember exactely, but about 1/4" to spare).
Now if you subtract 4.5" off my barrel, then there is no mathematical way to stay above 26".
You'd have to fond a stock with a pistol grip.

The Remington 870 with an 18.5 inch barrel measures 25" 7/8 with no stock on it.... add a speedfeed pistol grip and it's about 30 inches long.....with a 14" barrel it's about 25 1/2" and is too short but the Breacher's grip by knoxx is longer then the speedfeed and easily makes the 26 1/4" min.

I think if you re measure your Mossberg you will find it quite a bit longer then 26 1/4 inches with a pistol grip.

With my HP-9 the 26" mark is from the end of the barrel to the nubbin at the back of the stock just above and behind my wrist when I'm holding it.

Well, if you check CanadaAmmo, you will find they will supply 12.5 inch barrel 870 pretty soon. And they include a pistol grip in the package.

From what I've gleaned from the posts of those "in the know", I believe that the 26.25" minimum is only applicable to shotguns that are sold without a standard stock, or if a foldind or telescoping stock has been fitted.

It seems to be legal (and not restricted/non-restricted status changing) for a private individual to fit a pistol grip stock to a non-semi-auto even if doing that changes the length so that it's less that 26.25".

From the CFC site:

According to the Criminal Code, a restricted firearm is:

* A handgun that is not a prohibited firearm;
* A semi-automatic, centre-fire firearm with a barrel length less than 470 mm that is not a prohibited firearm;
* A firearm that can fire after being reduced, by folding, telescoping or otherwise, to an overall length of less than 660 mm; and
* Any firearm prescribed under the Criminal Code regulations to be restricted (including some long guns).

It would seem that a Knoxx Folder would be a no-no if you wanted to fit it to anything shorter than a 14" 870, but from what I've read here (and seen on the CFC site), it would seem that as long as your reg cert is non-restricted, you can change to a pistol grip without problems.

Please don't try to apply logic to this state of affairs, you'll only frustrate all of us :confused:

I've gathered this is how the 8.5" shotguns managed to be classified as non-restricted, but I can't understand how putting on a pistol grip doesn't qualify as "or otherwise".

My HP-9's registration card says... "Non-restricted with a length less then 470mm." And that's all a Mountie needs to know. :p

With the original stock mounted it measures about 34.5" OAL from the end of the barrel to the but pad.

With my Knoxx spec ops stock on it is 32.75" to 35.75", with several adjustments in between.
