legal storage of rifle

What would i have to do to make it legal, storing my rifle out in the open. ( say,.. use it as the center piece on my dinning room table )
is it legal to store it in the open>? the gyst ive gotten so far is that as long as its unloaded and locked ( trigger lock or cable lock ), i can use it as a toilet paper roll holder if i wanted to. . ?

Change the xx to tt, second page is for individuals, storage and display.

I know exactly how you feel Ugly...the if/and/or/but's are darned confusing!!!

from what I gather though, as long as the rifle is secured to the wall (much like you see them at gun shops) and disabled (ie. trigger lock), it's good to go.

Think back to when you took the CFSC..."storage of a non restricted firearm" or you can wait until tomorrow, because someone will ask the same question again...

Put atrigger lock on it or remove the bolt and it's legal.

To display (store in the open) a non-restricted firearm must be:

Unloaded & Trigger locked.

Why would you want a toilet paper holder on your dining room table? Just curious.
'Or' is simple. One or the other. Lock it up with a trigger/cable lock, remove the bolt or in a lockable container or room.
'And' means both. As daft as it is to need a trigger lock in a decent safe or solid cabinet.
Storing any firearm in the open can be an invitation to becoming the victim of a crime. Mind you, a bunch of TP rolls on it is likely good camouflage.

8. An individual may display a non-restricted firearm only if it

(a) is unloaded;

(b) is rendered inoperable by means of a secure locking device or is in a container, receptacle or room that is kept securely locked and that is constructed so that it cannot readily be broken open or into; and

(c) is not displayed with and is not readily accessible to ammunition that can be discharged from it.
