Legalities of selling handloaded ammo?

selling reloaded ammo

I'm inclined to agree with QM86 87 when he said some of you people are paranoid . Dave have you shot any of the reloaded ammo that came with the rifle you had and are selling???? years ago a good friend of mine and some close buddys passed away and I ended up with some of his reload ammo . he was an avid hunter and a stickler for details .

I tried some of that ammo in a Garand I used to have and sure it was hot but I knew it was good stuff. he even had the primers sealed with mil spec primer sealer . if I had'nt tryed the ammo I would'nt have sold it at a gun show . plus I gave some away to a good friend .

there has been lots of factory ammo that has blowen up guns over the years . now try to sue a ammo company . I hope you have lots of money for the Lawyer . if you have tried it and it did;nt blow up your gun sell it or do as the others said and pull the bullets . I even told the guy at the show it was reloaded ammo but I had tried it and he did'nt even bat an eye before he took his wallet out . have a nice day people . :bangHead:

Some where ther must be a legal case of some one sueing for injury of loading bullets
this would help to find the true ,I will check with the NFA lawyer staff

Paranoid, all.

So you don't carry insurance of any kind?

You probably won't find any. There would have had to have been substantial injury as a result of someone's reloads in another person's gun, so the likelihood is small. Gun damage/destruction, yes, substantial personal injury, much less likely. When you read about kabooms, the shooter is usually not critically injured.

This is a case of hope for the best, but prepare for the worst.

cement head; A civil suit against you doesn't have to be successful to cause you to lose your house and savings defending yourself, especially if someone like an insurance company is backing the other guy. Same goes for criminal charges.

FINAL ANSWER: (I was wrong in my earlier post about definition of "selling")

A legal opinion is that it is legal under the Explosives Regulations is that GIVING reloaded ammunition away is not prohibited and also note that this applies to also to non-reloaded ammo.

However, it does no protect you from any civil action if an accident occurs as a result of your reloads.

If anyone wants more details, then send me a PM.
