Well im not sure if this has been touched on before but...

I have a 10/22 with an archangel g36 stock and would like to keep my SR22 barrel on there but when folded its below the legal limit by about an inch. My question is, by completely disabling the folding mechanism/button say by attaching a roll pin behind the button will that be legal since it cannot be folded and now meets the legal limit? My confusion lies in the fact that the archangel stock was originally designed for folding and if i disable that feature am i good?

Thanks for any input in advance!
Jeff

For length it is OAL.

So add a longer muzzle device....

But yes. If you can make it 26.1" folded you are good.

Or pin the stock so it can't be folded.

There was a thread previously that a fellow called the lab for there opinion. Their opinion was that disabled folding mechanisms and muzzle devices do not count towards OAL.

that said I am doubtful those opinions would hold up in court so long as neither could be removed/altered with out tools to allow for an OAL of less than 26".

There a very slick & easy DIY here (somewhere...my search is weak today) on pinning the G36 stock using a 40 S&W casing. I had to do it b/c I had a 10.5" bbl on mine; I'm surprised to hear that a SR22 bbl puts the OAL < 660mm though.

Yea im almost positive and triple checked it when i had the SR22 barrel on. As of right now i have the factory 10/22 barrel on, ill double check my measurements when i get home. That DIY sounds interesting, ill have to search for it.

And thanks for the input. I love Canadian gun laws lol.

Thats the issue. You ask, they give you an opinion that is not law. Asking just gives them a chance to spin docter it sooner. To me if it takes a tool to alter/take off in order to put your firearm under 26", you have a pretty solid chance of having any charges dropped assuming you are willing to take up legal defense. Just my opinion, and i aint no lawyer.
