Legality of A1A mags

I would take the position that they're legal only until the R.C.M.P. decides to 'reinterpret' the law and charge you with possession of a prohibited device. Even if you're in the right, you'd then have a legal fight against taxpayer funded lawyers. Nice system we live under, isn't it?

Legal, use em if you got em. 10 rounds rapid fire from a 308 is a great drill if you can keep it on paper :)

Ive always carried along an official copy of the laws pertaining to magazine use, barrel lengths and FRT numbers in my range bag. Overboard maybe but I believe that due to how our laws that the majority of cops will have no idea what the laws are apart from pinned to 5, 18.5" and over etc. Terrible system indeed, guilty until proven innocent.

You're not wrong. I had a local cop tell me that centerfire were all max of 5 rounds or else they're prohibited, even Lee Enfields. He's off re-educating himself now.

I picked one up only to find it will not stay in at all. Haven't looked at it any further. Cant mod the mag, So another expensive paperweight I guess....

At all? I had 5 and they all fit in fine.

Try holding the rifle upside down and pushing the mag in straight down until the mag release clicks in

I dont know what I was doing before, but I just tried it as you said and it clicked.... I gave it a good push. Maybe thats all it needed. I gotta work on my patience...lol

No such thing as an A1A mag, except the way some aftermarket ones were mislabeled.

It's Australian International Arms, or AIA.
I wouldn't doubt if all the mags marked A1A become prohibited because of they are mislabeled. No such riffle exists. ")

I picked up 5 from Wolverine this week, all 5 worked beautifully in my M305, fed the Norinco surplus 308 like a champ. Zero misfeeds for me through 200 rounds.

Shoulder is a bit sore though :)
