Legality Of Seaguls

I seem to recall that when I was a kid there was a rumour flying about that claimed if you soak bread in borax the seagull would explode after eating it.

hehe, that would be pretty funny if you jammed a fircracker in a chunk of bread, lite it and quickly gave it to a tame seagull...........Kaboooooom:D

It's ilegal to kill them(1917 Migratory Birds Convention Act signed by Canada and the U.S.)- you might try flagging on string or a Zon gun(propane powered noisemaker). Tell Fish and Wildlife you have a problem- they might lend you one.

it is if your newly seeded crop is your source of income ie farmer fish and game should issue to a registered farmer
 
Like 1899.

The version I heard as a kid; was alka-seltzer tablets, broken up and tucked into bread. The birds can't burp and would explode (I believed it. I was 7)
 
Have you ever just sat and watched them in a McDonalds parking lot, real cream of the crop there. Seems to be the rag tag bunch always hanging around - burnt, one-eyed, one legged, etc etc etc. Same with the crows you find there. Wierd.
 
The ones outside Granville Island Market in Vancouver are fun to watch. People come out with their food, seagull swoops in knocking it out of their hands, eat and repeat as often as you want to sit there and watch. I saw one guy get hit 2 times in as fast as it took him to go back inside to get more food.:D
 
Wonder if you could get a special Canadian Wiuldlife Serice permit for a "Hot Barrel Hunt" at the local dump ? Hide in the dumpsters, use recorded calls & empty javex bottles for decoys and bait 'em with the Colonels buckets & Mickey D bags ???
 
The exploding thing with the bread is true. A friend of mine once tried it on some gulls that were after his caribou meat. Things worked like a charm.
 
When I was in high school I used to soak french fries in Muriatic Acid and toss it to those buggers, they ate it to!! Some would just shake thier heads rapidly after swallowing, probably cause of the massive burning! But they just flew away no heads exploding or watching them fall from the sky! By the way I hate seagulls too. As far as I am concerned they have no rights, way too many around here.
 
just like the rabbits here. I swear they are going to destabilze the substrate of our building.
