Legality Of Seaguls

And yah a McDonald parking lots would be a rat infested gross place without Sea gulls, and Crows (More then average anyway). :)
Rats!!! Let's shoot rats!!!! YEEEEAAAAHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!

Sorry

Seriously though, Calum's right. Personally, I've never really felt the overwhelming need to shoot seagulls. Crows, yes. Rats, yes. Racoons, yes. Seagulls, no.

If you REALLY REALLY REALLY want an excuse to blast something, I'd recommend going down to the city dump with a powerful spotlight and a semi-auto .22 (preferably with a red-dot on it, but any .22 will do, even a single shot Cooey w/iron sights) and blast some rats!!! It's all legal from what I understand, and if your local dump has a management crew all you have to do is talk to the supervisor/manager and they'll usually be OK with it. Nobody likes rats  Plus it's fun, and extremely good practice!

Amphibious They are NOT a protected species in ON anymore. Especially if you farm(as I do) JITC

Since when? You must have an exemption as a farmer or somebody is turning a blind eye. They most certainly are a protected species, in general, although the ring-billed are a serious PIA and should be stricken from that protected list. The onlt problem with making ring-billed's fair game is that people will start cracking away at any gull... ;)

why the hell are seagulls of any varity protected i didnt think there numbers where low enought to warrent being on that list

They're not smart like crows or magpies. During the early part of the last century many breeds were near extinction, including Herring Gulls and Ring-Billed. Many other breeds are still not very common. Yeah, they seem to be all over the place now but so what? So are Starlings, Red-wing Blackbirds and Grackles. They honestly don't do any harm, despite what some farmers think. They're not a "varmint"! WTF is wrong with you people?

Some experts say that in many ways Crows are on par with some Dogs in intelligence.

I've seen lots of interesting documentaries with crows planning things out, and problem solving, learning by observation, and even sliding down snowbanks on their backs for fun.

I have also talked to animal trainers who have a few in their homes, and they say they watch how the aviary doors unlock and open, and then they get into EVERYTHING in the house...I'm told they are worse then monkeys for curiosity. :D
