Legalizing suppressors

Oddly, "logical" and "makes sense" don't seem to be words used when the law makers turn their attention to "gun control".

I was just in a local sports store yesterday doing some christmas shopping, and I came across the hunting section. Whoa-damn, did they have a MASSIVE selection of silencers - both for pistol AND hunting rifle.

It was pure ###

fast track it.

take the government to court by not allowing a safety device on a dangerous item.

see if the court will take it.

No I know nothinga bout law but if the homosexuals can do it we can too! ;)

Just imaging my m14 tricked out with a silencer makes me drool all over the keyboard

i support the idea, much like mag capacity. Its another stupide law in canada that makes no sense. I hope we can change some of this non sense in time.

The guns do not have to be silenced, just moderated to the point where ear damage is unlikely.
The only problem with this argument is that to bring the muzzle report of any firearm 9mm and louder, down below the EU limit for hearing damage requires a fairly decent silencer. Basically you need to do about 25 dB or better to get below the safety limit.

FWIW Canada is the ONLY G8 nation to outright prohibit the civilian ownership of silencers. All those lefty socialist nations the libs and NDP want us to emulate allow civies to own silencers.

M14's don't suppress very well. The gas system requires the silencer to have a large expansion chamber which either makes the can loud or long and heavy or both. But just to make you drool. :)

FWIW If this project needs any factual info on silencers / suppressors don't hesitate to ask. If I don't know offhand I am in regular contact with several of the most knowledgible suppressor professionals in the world and would be happy to ask.

Bows are silenced. They make skeet and trap a little hard, but you know what they say .... Practice practice practice. Plus they are legally silenced.

When I was in the Arctic last summer I was shocked at the number of deaf guys, no one uses ear protection while hunting or shooting up there. We could maybe add the spin that laws on suppresors (excuse me sound moderators) unduly impact people practicing traditional lifestyles. We need stats from National organizations for deaf people and ideally get them on board with changing the law.
