Springfield, Dan Wesson, Colt, S&W?
I'm a newbie to 1911 but looking for one that would be comparable in "stature" to a Sig 226 Legion or Stainless Elite. Classic, very well made, utterly reliable, but tacticool and rad.
I've only owned a couple 1911's but whenever I had them, I was too into tinkering and they're a pain in the butt to take down, and too poor to shoot .45.
What model would you pick if you had a budget around $1500-2000 to pick one to keep forever... Retail price choices, or used price where you might be able to score a deal on a gun above the price bracket. And heck why not throw one that SHOULD be locatable for under a grand used, that would be stupid not to buy.
Please don't recommend Kimber. I'm not into pretty but stupid women, nor guns.
Oh and I really, really like commander length models. But are they more challenging to shoot well?
If you have a suggestion, be a doll and insert an image tag
plus points to models with novak sights because I think they look awesome too, and I dig models with front cocking serrations, even if I never use them.
Heard this Bul Trophy is one to aim for...
