Leica vs Zeiss

That's why I buy from Camera Land, Doug would be there if there was an issue. I have no issue sending it to the states for repair. Won't cost me hundreds to that. Where in Canada can I buy certified preowned optics and get them for the prie you can from Camera Land and still have warranty?

I personally have Zeiss Victories but have used both the Leica and Swaro bino's quite a lot. To my eyes the new Leica's are the best glass available today. However, I'd go with what ever is cheapest as all 3 are excellent glasses and assuming you are using them for hunting will do everything a person could ever need/want.

i have both binos and spotting scope in Zeiss. Both have been excellent although I agree with the poster who said drop the pull up eye cups. I had 8x56 but went to Victory 10 x 56. The old story about 8 power being all you can hold steady offhand doesn' t work with me.

It's Swarovski. ;)

I've had all three, Leica Ultravid, Swarovski EL and Zeiss Victory. I kept the Leica, it was the clearest IMO.
The Swaro seemed to have a bit of a yellow hue to it and the "Hawk" symbol at the front of the bridge fell off not long from new, so I wasn't too impressed.
The Zeiss was good as well, but just a bit behind the Leica in clarity, at least when I look through it.

The best resources and reviews on the web are from birdwatcher websites, do a google search.

One thing I wished all bino manufacturers would do away with is the twist up eyecups, hate them. I have an old pair of Zeiss 7x42 BGA's that have the far superior solid rubber eyecups. They can be folded down for eyeglass wearers. Let's face it, you're not gonna wear glasses one day and go without the next, so why the quick twist cups? OK, rant off............ :D

You won't be disappointed in either the Zeiss or Leica. FWIW, check out Cameraland on here, they have good deals on binos and they can ship them to Canada. If you want Leica, see if he has some older non-HD Ultravids, they are great, I don't think the extra $$ for HD is warranted. My $.02.

I also found the Swarovski a little too heavy, without the harness it almost
break my neck.
