So here in BC, after receiving my license in the mail, I went and purchased my M&P 9mm in full at my local gunshop. At the same time I had them fax an ATT with a copy of my gun club membership card to the CFO. Approximately how long untill I can take my new gun home?

Thanks.

Phone the CFO after 24 hours with the reference number, it may be ready, have them email it to you, go pick up the gun. That's how easy it is in Alberta works about the same in BC. If I buy in Dawson Creek I usually have it in 20 minutes, I live 25 minutes from the BC/ Alberta border and take it home the same day.

Ok, Thanks. Will they have to approve the ATT first before the transfer goes through? Will that make it take longer? (this is my first restricted firearms purchase)

ok, im confused though, is the reference number just for the transfer? or for the ATT as well? Like do they have to approve the LTATT before approving the transfer? and if so, does that add significant time to the transfer?

It is my first restricted firearm purchase. I just wanna be able to take it home from the gun shop this week :D

Reference # for STATT (from shop to home). LTATT will show up in mail in about a week, or so.

There is no relationship (time wise) between the STATT and the LTATT.

2-3 days

I purchased mine on thursday and got to take 'em home the fllowing monday. My gun club applied for my ATT and the gun store applied for the short term ATT.

Just as long as their Fvcking FAX machine works, you should be good to go.

Today, they suggested I tell a dealer that they get their fax machine fixed. :jerkit:

From what I've read, and experienced, the LTATT comes faster when you make Restricted purchase #1. Why, I don't know but it seems to be true. They dicked around with my second restricted purchase for longer than necessary. However, it got done today! Woot!

SigFan (KeltecFan)

i called the BC CFO and asked, and she said

"we get 500 faxes a day and it will take 7-10 days to process your Long term ATT. Once we do that we will review/approve the transfer".

what a crock. i would have faxed/submitted my ATT in before purchasing my gun but, but they wouldnt give me my RPAL number PLUS my gun club wouldnt let me join unill I had my RPAL plastic.

just some more waiting, waiting, and waiting

I'm in the same boat; purchased pistol and dealer faxed LTATT request in along with the transfer on Sat Mar 10th. I can't even get through to the BC CFO (selecting option 5 from the CFC number) - it's just a voicemail asking to leave all the transfer details. I also can't get through to the CFC - says call volumes are so high it exceeds their capacity.

It's not that I'm THAT impatient (well, sort of) but the question I have is this:

Once the LTATT is approved/issued, the transfer of my 1st restricted firearm completed, and the STATT issued so I can bring the firearm home what's next? I have to wait until I get the registration certificate in the mail before I can transport to the range, correct?

What about subsequent restricted purchases? Does the LTATT need to be reissued, incurring additional delay or is it only the delay to complete the transfer, issue the STATT (is that still required?), and receive the registration certificate?

keep trying to call you'lll get through eventually.

From what I can understand: Once they approve your LTATT they will issue a STATT via fax to your gun shop and approve the transfer so you can take the gun home. to go to the range you will have to wait for the LTATT in the mail.

when i got my rpal i thought the waiting was over, but i guess i was wrong.

I'm just going to buy more non-restricted's to keep my occupied. :p At least that isn't a painful process - and I get the instant gratification of taking it home the same day!

I find it stupid we have to wait 7-10 days for our LTATT to go through... I have heard of other people phoning in and having them complete the LTATT over the phone in a matter of minutes.. is this possible? id rather do this than have my faxed LTATT sit in a pile for a week and a half.

I honestly dont mind waiting to take my gun to the range, i just want to take it home. I paid for something, i should be able to take posession of it.

....aand I just got a call from the dealer telling me my STATT/transfer has come in so I can come pick up my pistol.

Does this mean my LTATT has also been issued, as is in the mail!? Oh rapture!

Hope yours comes soon too!

Haha, im jealous! congrats.

From what I can understand, if your transfer is approved it also means your LTATT has been issued and will be mailed out.

Just curious, are you in vancouver? what gunshop did you purchase from?
