Length of ATT/transfer?

Vancouver, you need to relax man. I'm not being rude at all but you are dealing with a government agency. You need to realize that it WILL take time, you cannot expect them to have it done just like that, especially with you living in one of the higher populated provinces. If you are just one of those people that is too impatient when it comes to acquiring and owning firearms, come move to Manitoba. :p You will have your STAAT and your LTATT all within about 30 minutes of buying your restricted firearms.

yea i understand, but if they just put a bit more funding into hiring more staff then the process would be sped up 10 fold.

Getting your drivers license doesn't take nearly this long, and there are 1000x more people applying/testing for that.

Got my short term ATT and brought my gun home today. I actually called the CFO this morning to check on the status, and they said it was actually approved on the 17th, but they forgot to fax it to the dealer!!

Anyways, im just glad i finally got it.

Congrats from another newb.
I've been following this thread (and a few or your others) because I am in almost identical circumstances. I even plan on buying an M&P. (9mm for me)
Anyway, please post when you get the LTATT. I'm interested in how that's going to play out for you ... and likely me.

Have fun and be safe.

funny thing is, when i got back from the gun shop today, my LTATT was sitting in my mailbox! not too shabby, if you call them and give them a proverbial kick in the behind, they really speed up the process. If i hadn't called i probably never would have got my STATT to take it home as they clearly forgot to fax it to the dealer.

Which number did you end up calling to get a hold of the CFO? Called the CF then 1, 5 to get to BC CFO but got the machine all day long. Itchin to pick up my second 1911. = (

i called the usual CFC number, then clicked 1 to enter extension 9530 which is the BC/yukon CFO.

I often ended up being on hold until i got the answering machine as well, but i noticed the best time to get through to them is early in the morning right when they start work, around 9-9:30.

Appreciate it bud! Called CFC Monday and they said transfer was done Friday last week and all info was passed on to the CFO. I'll try again tomorrow.
