I have a browning 425 sporting that I can shoot well, I have been shooting sporting but when I duck hunt I want 3" versatility. The sight plane on this gun is perfect for me, and I can never seem to shoot well with a single beaded thin rib on 3" field guns... Is there any way a gunsmith could lengthen the chamber safely for 3" shells?

It can be done by anyone with a forcing cone reamer and a little experience with it. BUT the Europeans have a law requiring any such modifications to be sent to a government proof house for a very good reason - chamber modifications can be dangerous if not done properly or if done to a gun that cannot me modified safely. Your Browning has a strong design and is likely a good candidate for chamber lengthening, but there are liability issues that many gunsmiths will not take on. Not many gunsmiths have access to standardized proof loads to test their work with.
If I was to contemplate a project like yours I would contact Nick Makinson in Ontario. He has done good barrel work for me in the past and I would trust his advice.
