When a discount is offered to the listed group it's usually as a sign of respect and a thank you to those who have chosen to serve the community in specific dangerous jobs... Feel free to join any of the listed organizations if you really want that discount

Hey Karen thank you for your service. Here is a 0% discount. Sound like the old lady at the grocery store yelling at a young man, because the pharmacy wasn't directly under the sign on the outside of the building. Do you cry at restaurants that offer discounts?

As someone that served, I barely ask for a discount, even in uniform I didn't want one. But If a business wants to offer those that served a discount, great, good on them.

I asked a fair question, as usual your response is garbage.

KDW-'s post explaining it as a sign of respect and gratitude explained it.
However that post became hot garbage with his closing sentance.

Seems like it's not much if a discussion forum at times.

Just instantly turns into a sh.it show with know it alls and insults hurled about.

I don’t ever ask for a veteran’s discount anymore…no point. You usually get a blank stare. If they do & I show my British army veteran card, they usually faint trying to work out if that counts..

You been on this earth how long? You should know that people may offer first responders, LEO or MIL special discounts as a thank you. Same as Seniors discount. Our local bar used to give bikers 10% off.

Most people don't reply to a post about military discount and whine because they're not included.

I was getting my stuff from S&J shipped to my work. Someone over there noticed and offered up the discount.

I didn't even know about a discount! Thanks S&J!

Go to your local recruiting center cry baby. It ruined my mental health for the rest of my life . My son no longer talks to me. I moved 11 times in 22.5y. the list goes on ! Ive been a civy for 2 years and Im still afraid to leave my house. I have panic attacks when I try to bring the wife out to a restaurant. So she has no social life because of me now.

Ill trade you R.F.N if it means loosing a discount I dont even ask for because im ashamed of what I did. And I had to burn my certificate of service because it has sock boy signature on it.

The real hero's are our wife's , not us.

🤦‍♀️

Other than Military we are all civilians
Are you for real?
You ask the most captain obvious question just to be a pedantic Karen and whine that you’re not included, then you get a response clearly detailing why you’re not included and then you want to argue further?
Mil/leo and fire/ems are not civilians even kindergarten kids understand that.
Sign up and serve or quit whining about a private business offering a discount out of gratitude to non-civilians.

I stand corrected as do you, apparently police are now not civilians, with the increased militarization of police, that makes some sense.
Fire/EMS are still defined as civilians.

civilian
/sĭ-vĭl′yən/

noun
A person who is not an active member of the military, the police, or a belligerent group in a conflict.

Better response than expected , time for lunch and think of somthing else to post.

See who blows a gasket next.

It really depends what online dictionary you use - Sometimes Fire is included, sometimes not.

In my opinion, if a fireman or EMS is asked to go into a burning building (or otherwise put themselves in harms way), without the ability to decline the order, then they aught to be included.

Maybe join the local volunteer fire department?

Paid fire&police typically have an auxiliary that one could join as another option.

They’re always looking for more people. Even if it’s just to help direct traffic at an accident.

Ironic coming from the cry baby who got butthurt that people who put their lives on the line are offered a discount and then doubled down on the stupid.
Did the can-forces deny you?
Did you get arrested for being a bad boy or given a speeding ticket?
You’re going to really blow a gasket when you find out how many private businesses offer mil/police discounts.
