A friend of mine uses nothing but Leopold QRW quick release rings on everything from his .243 to his .300 Win mag. Anybody else have any opinions, good or bad, on these rings? Thanks
I'm a bit baffled to why the group size would be bigger.I have the qrw rings on my scopes and remington 700 LA rifles for interchangeability should the need arise. Before this years hunting season I tested the repeatability of this mounting system. I dismounted and remounted the scope between shots while firing a 5 round group at 300m with my 300 win mag. Grouping opened up to 2 1/2" from 1 7/8", Seems ok to megiven the convenience afforded by the qrw mounting system.
The QRW systms is not expected to remain within one MOA as are the Mark 4 rings and base system that uses a 65 lb torque wrench to ensure repeatability. Phil.

I would expect it to have a different POI, but not a larger group.

Well if that's the case, I'd say it did pretty well overall. Thanks for the clarification.I see my previous post was unclear. The scope was removed and replaced between each shot for the same group, subsequently the "group" enlarged. This was the procedure, shot#1 shoot 1 round then remove scope and replace, shot#2 shoot 1 round then remove scope and replace, etc for 5 rounds. All for same POA, POI changed and group grew to 2 1/2" from a typical group of 1 7/8" when I dont mess around with removing the scope from the rifle with the QRW rings.
