Leopold spotting scopes in comparison to other brands

I would go with an older Bushnell spacemaster II. I know who has a couple for sale.

Yes, they are nice and not that much $$
- Only downside, eyepiece are getting harder to come-by.

The same would probably apply for the Leupold
- As long as you're happy with the eyepiece that comes with it. Finding something different (if you want a wide-angle or LER) might be a challenge

Have looked at the Leupold GR 12-40x60 many times. What hasnt been mentioned so far is their excellent eye relief. If you wear glasses when shooting ... and you should... the Leupold is definitely worth a close look. I think the compact form is also very desireable

I have used a Leupold GR 12-40 for all my hunting since 2011. I love mine. My sheep hunting partners both have higher power HD Swaros. The swaro will for sure do a better job at resolving age rings on a stone sheep at distance. That said, the Leupold has made the call on as many rams with no problems. It also depends on what you prefer for an eye piece. I find an angled eye piece much more comfortable for glassing animals when they are up hill from me. Some can't stand angled and prefer the straight, such as on the Leupold. Bottom line for me is you won't regret the Leupold. If you absolutely need the best high power resolution you should spend the money on a swaro.
