Not that there is anything wrong with the Rifleman series, spend a few dollars more and look at the VXI line - they have slightly better lense coatings. I have both a VXI and a VXII, and I would suggest to go with the VXII line if you can afford it. Maybe cash in your beer / pop bottles to make up the difference.
Definately go for at least the VX2, but I will suggest the VX3- (3.5-10x40 & 4.5-14x40 with BC reticle)thats what I have on my 2 T3 LS 270WSM, and a Vari-X III 3.5x10x40 duplex reticle on my 300WM Sako m75SS I bought 8 years ago. I have a new VX2 4-12x40AO on my Sako m75SS 243 I just got. This is a great scope with the LR duplex reticle. So if you can afford the VX3 go for it - you will not regret it, if not at least the VX2 in 3-9x40 or 4-12x40 are my suggestions for your 300WM.
Are you set on a Leupold? 'Cause you can't get better bang for your buck than with a Bushnell Elite series. Not quite as much eye relief, but should be plenty enough for a 300 wizzum.
Rifleman is the bottom of the line and is okay. The friction adjustments are 1/2" instead of the 1/4' on the vxII. I would suggest waiting until you have the money to get atleast the vxII, in the long run, you will be happier. If you really need one right now, it will do an adequate job.
As for the elite 3200 series, they are very nice scopes and I would put them on par with the Leupold VxIIs but cheaper. The only problem some guys have with them is that they are Bushnells and Bushnell does not have a great service reputation. If you are worried about future service work, Leupold will have you covered.
Rifleman scopes don't get enough credit. I have sold alot of Elite and Rifleman scopes, and the Rifleman has better eye relief, clarity, and better warranty. Won't go wrong with a rifleman.
Most guys that buy leupold scopes are happy, the rifleman is the start of a great line of scopes i personally own three VXII 3X9s and one VXII 2X7 i like the click adjustments and they have great eye relief along with good lens coatings for a afordable price, The VXIII are excellent but alot more money.
You really shouldn't be thinking of eye relief as a 'feature' though, it's simply a characteristic of the scope. More does not = better, unless you need it (but with proper hold on your gun, you shouldn't need anything exotic on a wizzum)
I agree, go VXII or higher, but I've had a couple rifleman's and they're virtually indestructable. (One spent its service on a .375 RUM, no zero change). Good scope for the money, leaps and bounds ahead of bushnell.
Leupold vxII 3-9x40mm, in a hard anodized Composite Matte Black finish with wide duplex, seems quite match to my Tikka T3 lite SS... $499.95 in Wholesport.

i have a 3x9 rifleman on my 300 win mag, it was on my quad for the last 2 years with no zero change. I have half a dozen of the bushnell 3200s and i like them but ihave changed to leupold for good. Unless some day I can aford zeiss...
