I'm thinking about the AR game again. Owned an A2 20" Olympic Arms years ago with a Lilja barrel. Would like another accurate paper puncher. The 16" versions of the Baer's and Noveske's are priced about the same. Anyone experienced with either makes and why you would pick one over the other? Thanks.

Noveske. Accurate AND durable. They have a barrel profile that is milled in house, and use mil spec + materials.
The Mod H MK12 used a Noveske SS barrel with great results over seas.

If accuracy is your only goal, then go LB. I believe they advertise 0.5 MOA.

If you want a run and gun AR, then I would take the Noveske. Another in a similar price range is the Knights Armament.

Either way, we would love an update and range report with pics. Both are very nice guns.
If I had the coin, I would go Noveske as I'm not a bench shooter.

I'm not much of a bench shooter but I doubt you could go wrong with either. I've never owned a Les Baer but I have a build with a 18" SPR Noveske barrel and the accuracy it provides is impressive, even with cheap ammo. My other AR is a KAC but it's hard to compare to the Noveske as it's only 11.5".

Not sure which Noveske barrel you are looking at . They are know for both their polygon Button Rifled SS and their N4 series ( CHF double chrome lined )

Great interview to the late Noveske talking about his barrels

I have used the SS Noveskes from 10.5" to the SPR profile . Have yet to see one that was not a good shooter . Keep in mind their barrels included pinned gas block so that saves a few $$

The Noveske N4 is more in the line of hard use guns like a KAC SR-15 ( CHF barrel ) . My N4 and KAC SR15 are awesome for run and gun etc . On the bench even with good handload match ammo ( MK262 duplicate with 77gr OTM bullet ) these guns are good shooters but nothing spectacular . Huge difference in weight between the N4 guns and the SPR profile Noveskes

The SPR ( 18" noveskes also use intermediate length gas tube , which has been optimized for barrel ) . The N4 uses mid length . KAC uses a version of their intermediate

My SPR profile MK12Mod0 clone is more accurate paper puncher but weighs a lot more

As far as the LB barrels, I have not built on one but they are single point cut ( like Krieger etc ) so obviously accuracy would be excellent . I have used Satern cut rifle and they are fantastic shooter

If you plan to put high magnification scope and punch paper you can't go wrong with any cut rifle barrel ( LB ) or higher end button rifled such as Noveske SS barrels . Apples to orange comparison to CHF chrome lined barrels such as colt / KAC / Noveske N4 etc .

Having said that , there are lots of users who rave about the Noveske CHF but I have never really benched my N4 so can't confirm that

I have both the Les Baer super varmint and a Noveske N4 light weight recce...Both are very tight fitting rifles that have had zero failures.

The 2 rifles are completely different animals...The Baer being a heavy weight and the N4 a light handy rifle.

They both shoot sub moa and better out to 700 yards...The Baer does it easily with a heavy weight SS barrel, higher magnification 15x scope and a 2lb national match Geissle trigger...The Noveske N4 does it with a little more effort but only has a 10x scope, light weight chrome lined barrel with a Geissle SS-E trigger.

All things being equal the accuracy of the Les Baer is very impressive but with the advantages given up by the Noveske N4 the accuracy it achieves is miraculous.

Les Baer gives the same half moa guarantee with their lighter rifles as well so you know it's a sure thing...Tough call so I got both.

BTW my LMT rifles do the same thing.
