Les Baer's - #1 contender for the "best bang for your buck" custom 1911 debate?

Do the Wilson's offer a 1.5" guarantee? Just curious. And what about Nighthawks, any experiance with them?

I don't think anyone else states a 1.5" at 50 yards like Baer does, mine is about an inch (10 rounds).

BenL I know where you may be able to get a Baer. I just bought an second one this week and he had a few to sell. Not sure if any left, and I am not sure if I saw a thunder ranch.

Using IRunGuns should cut that down to about a month or so.

Which model did you purchase?

Les Baer custom premier II. I used Borderview to import-no complaints ,but it took 3 months. Do Irun guns do it faster? because some of the delay is just the processing of US export paperwork. Since I am developing a quality handgun collection it would be nice to know for the future.

I'm all ears - shoot me a PM or post it here as others might be interested as well :)

Tks!

Typically about 4-6 weeks at most is what I've seen with Jason's business. Look up his dealer section of the board as there's plenty of info about the process.

I haven't seen a custom get mentioned in this thread. Everything in here is semi-custom.

I think the Wessons have gotten pretty good, though. Unfortunately their prices have increased enough that they're not really a deal anymore. A Valor is about a hundred bucks cheaper than a lot of the Baers.

sbe , i'm assuming a ransom rest , what's your load . my rk custom gets 2.5" @ 50 with drg 200 swc , 4.1 be @ 1.235 , tc .468 .

I wish it was me but yes Ransom rest and this is the test target from Les Baer and he uses just factory ammo. I have a mechanical rest and I tested my load at 25 yards and they all went into basically one hole. I was using 4.7 WST, 230 gr ball(Berry's). So nothing special and it shoots next year I will take it out to 50 myself to see if it holds at that distance, but very good at 25 majority literally same hole.

I would like to know the factory ammo he uses.

I don't know if you can use words 'custom' and 'best bag for your buck' in the same sentence...

Point of using that specific word is to eliminate large, mass-production line of handguns out of the discussion. Semi-custom is probably a better descriptive of a $2,300 Thunder Ranch, but I wasn't also wasn't looking to discuss $4-5k handguns either.

Yep - Wilson Combat is arguably the best made handgun in the world - but there is a current 2+ year waiting period at the moment.

Ask me how I know ....

Wanstalls just got a COUPLE of them in - one left, I think.

Bear is well over 2 years as well - These semi-customs are getting very difficult these days. I guess it gives you time to save your pennies to buy.
