For anyone who prefers to sling up, there is a sling that stands head and shoulders above any other leather service rifle sling I have yet to see. Les Tam is the maker and even if you aren't interested in purchasing one, there is a lot of good information concerning what makes a good sling, and the proper way to maintain a leather sling on his website, just google Les Tam Slings.
Not only does Les make a very high quality product, he is a super nice guy to deal with, and has no problem shipping to Canada. Each sling is specifically made for the customer and is made to match the shooter's height and weight. These things are not mass produced. The holes on the long strap are numbered. Keepers are sewn or riveted based on the customer's preference. The hooks are available in stainless, brass, or parkerized steel. The stainless hooks have a slightly longer neck due to a manufacturing mistake, however this makes them easier to hook up. The price was $73.00 plus $20 for a pair of heavy 1.25" Uncle Mike's #1402-3 swivels which included shipping. I sent him $100 to cover everything and he included the change in cash with the sling!!! Guys, if that sling cost $150.00, it would still be good value for the dollars. It took about 2 weeks from the time he mailed the sling in Honolulu till I got it yesterday, so you folks down south would probably have it 2 or 3 days sooner.
