Is there anyone on here who shoots in the rifle league in Lethbridge? I was thinking about shooting in this league this year. I was talking with a fellow at the range last summer who was shooting with his "hunter class" (?) rifle, and explained to me the limits for this class, ie. weight, scope magnification, calibre, etc.

If anyone out there could help me out that would be great.

No, this is a centerfire benchrest rifle league (not 22 silhouette).

I tried looking up competitive rifle leagues in AB but only found links to a "fullbore" league, shooting from prone mostly. I am not sure is this is a provincially or nationally affiliated group, but I know that they are pretty active down at the range.

I have not shot at Lethbridge but might get a chance to do so a bit this year. I have some customers who do shoot there. They shoot hunter class and varmint for score. One guy will be shooting a new 6PPC for sure.
Some of those involved are long time BR shooters or former shooters. If Canada had a shooting hall of fame, Evelyn Leffingwell would have to be considered for recognition.
Apparently there will be at least one group match held in 2008.
My understanding is that they also have shoots for standard sporting rifles and shoot every week. The guys I've talked to have a good time at it. Regards, Bill

Pudelpointer,

I'm not Bill but I do know HBR, shot it for some 15+ years.

Hunter Class rules vary a little by org, you should check to see what org they shoot under, NBRSA, IBS, BRSC, or SFC. Basics for HBR are 10 lb max weight, 6 power scope, 2 1/4" foreend max.

Scope wise - all orgs in North America have a 6X max limit. Good 6 power scopes are all fixed power scopes and the list would be: Burris HBR (my fav), Weaver T6 (2nd fav) and the Leupold 6X42 HBR

An adjustable objective is a MUST have in the HBR game. Some guys like the fine cross hair, some like a dot and they come in various sizes. I like a .375 moa dot in a Burris 6X HBR myself with 1/8 moa clicks.
