[/IMG] Just finished some basket weave carving and fixed up the stock sites.

Can't believe they can sell them without the adjustments needed.

I finally found a nice Winchester 1873,
(the gun that won the west)

Made in May 1887, acording to the Cody numbers.

38-40 cal.

Picked it up at the Kamloops gun show, found some brass too, anyone know where to get bullets?

It appears to be all original, except the rear sight elevator, anyone know where to get an early Winchester rifle elevator without the thumb push?

Update: I found one, now it's 100% original!

Now if I can only find one in 44-40.....

Hey, Outsider, if you reload, then .40 S&W bullets will work. Same diameter. Unless your bore is out of spec. It's what I shoot in my 38-40.

You'll need a cannelure tool to put a crimp groove in the bullet, unless you load with blackpowder, then the case full of powder should keep the bullet from pushing into the case.

Same thing goes for lead boolits. I've got a mold for 180 grain S&W that works just fine in my rifle (haven't shot jacketed in years because of lead)

As for finding and shooting factory ammo, that stuff has gone through the roof. $80 for a box of 50!!! ouch!!!

If you can't find brass in 38-40, but can find a bunch of 44-40, then run that stuff through your dies.

Hope this helps.

Winchester Carbine .303

Winchester 1895 .303 British made in 1904
No its not minty and there isn't much blue left, but it has the early #1 windage adjustable sight, the bore is very good and it functions fine.

And its a .303, a very useful hunting and "feel-good" cartridge.

Coming from a guy who shoots rough checkering butt pad carbines.... That my friend is an unforgiving butt stock there! I'm not sure there is anything feel good about it lol. Awesome looking old girl.

OK.........I'll play.............

Here's some photos of my collection, not all my rifles are there but it gives you an idea..............

I have added probably another 15-20 since these photos were taken at a Whitehorse gunshow..........Then I also have some more modern ones, Miroku 92 SRCs in 44RM and 44-40, 2X 9422Ms, one standard and one Classic, a Henry 22 LR, BL 22 LR, and a Savage 99C in 308 and likely a few more that don't immediately come to mind.

Maybe if you hunt in a T-shirt, but for Canadian November clothing its fine.

FF........There is a 94 SRC in there in 25-35.......in fact I have 94 SRCs in every caliber made, I have full rifle in every caliber made and I have full rifle oct in every cal......I only need a 38-40 to complete my 92 SRC and I have every full length 92 caliber made in both oct and rb.......I have every caliber in sporting rifle in the 95s and an SRC in 30-03 the rarest of them all, and an oct 40-72 and a flat side in 30-40 Krag and two 405s, one take down and one solid frame..........and on, and on, and on................86s are driving me crazy though as there were just so many calibers made over the years, but I have a few and still looking.
I don't consider the Henry to be a Winchester, so I do not have one......turned down two, they are just disgustingly pricey and as I said not Winchester.
