I also have several Winchesters that I am inheriting from my departed uncle. Among them are an 1876, 2 1892's and another 1894. Can't take possession of them, or finish importing the ones in pics, until my PAL & PAL/R get here.

SATX what and how are those brass circles on your stocks? I've seen them on a few levers always wondered about them?
They are brass tacks, usually quite dome-headed, intended to simulate a very common technique used by Native Indians to decorate their firearms starting from the earliest days of trading with Europeans......

Looks kinda neat, not sure I would want to do that to a nice Uberti or a vintage Winchester, but maybe a beat up truck gun.

Yeah, I only did that on the mid-1970's Winnie '94 that I use for long range competitions in CAS and one of my first mule-eared SxS's. It went with one of the characters I portrayed while shooting. The Chief Crazy Horse came that way from the factory. The 1886 does not have any brass tacks on the buttstock, I simply had the cover from the SxS on there when I took that pic.

Having used them, I kind of think it gives you a competitive advantage (at least the ones on the forearm) but since it's historically correct, there was never an issue during competition.

Thought I might have posted these already, but in skimming back through the thread, I see I haven't .....

First is a Chaparral reproduction of the NWMP Model 1876 carbine, chambered in the correct .45-75 -

And something I've had for a number of years, a "faux" NWMP carbine made up in pistol-caliber (.45 Colt) on a Model 1873 action for cowboy action shooting -
