Lets get a some lever action #### going

1895 Cowboy, been upgraded with a checkered steel butt plate, one piece firing pin, Williams FP sight and XS front sight. I ditched the big loop for a proper square loop after this photo.

Cannot believe how good the trigger and balance is on this rifle with the 26" barrel, I swear it's lighter than my 336.

I do agree that they "hang well" and with you're sight selection, an 1895 Cowboy is a great choice.

Now why the fook does Remlin not offer these in 32-40 & 38-55? At the distances that CAS shootin' is done, why have to shoot a shoulder thunker like 45-70 in a match and get the "recoil jitters" that screw up most folks ability to shoot well. The 32-40 & 38-55 are perfect for the game.:)

Keeping the Marlin interest going and it is nice to see lots of interest in the Marlins of today and yesterday. This rifle shown below is one of my latest additions to my collection. This one is a Model 1889 in .38W (.38-40). The rifle is as it was configured as it left the factory in Oct. 2, 1891. The rifle still has it's original sights and special ordered octagon 26" barrel. The gun retains all it's original wood finish and the metal retains about 90% original bluing. A very nice rifle for it's age.

Well here is another Marlin that is real hard to find. This one is Model 1893 Short Rifle. This rifle letters from the factory with a 20" octagon barrel in
.25-36M cal. It left the factory Nov. 28 1899. Twenty inch short rifles are rare because most people wanting a 20" barrel gun would have bought a carbine that had a 20" barrel as standard length and it was much lighter. Also the short rifle was more expensive than a carbine. In 1905 a Special Smokeless Steel 20" octagon barrel short rifle was $17.00 and a standard Marlin M1893 SRC was $15.50. The .25-36 cal. is also a hard caliber to find in the Model 1893. The rear sight is a Marbles No.68 Full Buckhorn Sporting Sight and the front is Lyman No 4. sight. These are likely not original to this gun, but the full buckhorn is one of my favorites for these rifles and could be period addition.

Marlins are a poor mans Winchester:p These beauties are from Wes Adam's collection I took from Cody two years ago. Simply stunning. Make all other guns look like junk, car jack handles, septic tank swizzle sticks, cheap shiit for the masses etc etc, you get the picture. These guns are what millionaires buy. These pictures are the best I could do due to them being behind glass. I'm heading down in two weeks again. I wonder what other gems will be there? I think one of the auction house Julia bought most of (Adam's) guns and probably clean up reselling them.

:)Very nice johnl and thanks for sharing with the great photos. And yes, it definately shows signs of being a step or two above the dollar value level of this Pulp Mill Millwrights 'collection'.

Once the 'west coast sunshine' eases off and the weather improves a little, we'll have to try and get out with Doug some Saturday morning. I'll bring the '71;) and you can scare the spiders that are nesting in the barrel:).
