The Yugoslav gov't this month released a large portion of its strategic reserve of Yugo M75 sniper ammo in 8x57JS Mauser. It was immediately sold to a North American distributor and is en-route to (according to rumor) the US Est Coast.

MOST of the Yugo arms and ammo ever sold stateside was originally brokered through Marstar due to their well-known close ties in the Yugo gov't.

I wonder what the odds are this ammo was a Marstar deal and that some may come here?

It's likely Privi Partisan brass cased ammo, 1975 manufacture so it should be free of mercuric primers and other nasties, AND, it's manufactured as SNIPER AMMO!

In fact, I think 8mm Privi is on the import list ;)

Here's to crossing fingers!!!

even if it was marstar (which IS VERY likely)

I doubt they would bother bringing any in to canada its not worth the effort + they would sell every sigle round in 1/10th the time in the us anyways so why bother bringing it in?

Ya it would be nice but dont hold your breath

Oh, I dunno. with all the Yugo mausers they sold, Rc's, FN's, semi-auto MG34's, etc. I imagine we could absorb a shipping container or two...

That being said, after the importers got burnt on the 54R, they may be reluctant to bring in new ammo lots.

8mm ammo would sell, fast.

Anyone recall the ecodorian 8mm surplus that came in a couple years back. Sold out mighty quick.

If this is indeed true I will purchase as much 8mm as my wallet allows me, we dont exactly see this stuff on a daily basis.

Yeah, as much as I like reloading my own ammo, I would buy a whole lot of this stuff. Here's hoping that a bit of that (or a bunch) makes it up here....

It will likely all go to the US. We never saw any of the previous 8x57 from Yugo.

Well that isn't a very can-do attitude, canam. :p
I know, I'm terrible. I'm not turning into Dave though.

I'd buy a case of 8mm surplus, even though I'm broke. I'd go into debt and have creditors coming after me with various bladed objects trying to force me to pay them back...

That's commitment. Fight with us CanAm! For a shipping container of 8mm surplus! :canadaFlag:
