So tonight I decided to load up 8 different rounds of 22-250 shells and do a little testing at the range...

Powder - H380
Bullet- 50Gr nosler Ballistic tip (orange)

Rounds consisted of:
5 rounds of regular factory ammo charge
5 rounds of 38 grains powder
5 rounds of 38.5 grains powder
5 rounds of 39 grains powder
5 rounds of 39.5 grains powder
5 rounds of 40 grains powder
and 5 rounds of 40.5 grains powder (all I could wedge into the case, you should be able to fit 41 grains, but the crunching of the powder made me a little uneasy!)

And suprisingly the 40.5 grains compressed load gave me the tightest groups @ 100 yards, less that 0.5" for all 5 shots!  This was the first time I've ever sat down and did this, was very interesting. Anyone have any other good combos with this shell?

I've also had good accuracy using the 50 gr. Nosler BT. I use Win 760 powder (41.5 gr.... pretty warm) and CCI 200 primers. I think H 380 and Win 760 are pretty close in on the burn rate scale.

the 22-250 is remarkably easy to load for - not at all picky.

I settled on 36.0 gr of 4064 behind a 55gr VMAX or 52gr HPBT match bullet for 3700fps and consistent 3/8" (5-shot - I put little stock in 3-shot groups) groups from my Savage. By far the easiest load I've ever worked up, only took 50 rounds of testing various 4064 loads. I didn't even get around to try any other powders

Did your cases show any signs of high pressure with that load?? Im going to have to give that a try.
Ive always found that Varget and 55 gr V-Max worked awsome in my 250's

Cheers!!

None that I could tell, After every shot I inspected the case and everything seemed fine. But I'll be checking the necks again once they come out of the tumbler and will let you know.

I like 39.6 grains of Win 760 behind a 60 grain Sierra HP Flat base and a win large rifle primer.Best accuracy to date for my Savage Varmint Low Profile.
Of course you know to start lower than this and work up.
