I was going to try it this summer just never got around to it. I cleaned out a whole bunch of young ones from a soybean fieldlast year, they were about the size of a squirrel with a pot belly. Those guys were going to be my stewing ones but I was out for a half a day in 20* heat and thought they would have spoiled by then.

There is always next year.

Looks like you have some good groundhog hunting area!! What time of the year do you get out and what area of Ontario?? I am around London and trying to find some decent fields.

I get out first thing once the snow melts. My best luck is during early to mid summer before the beans and alfalpha get to high to see them. They sure dont know what hit them after the first and second cutting though.

Most of the fields I shoot are about 45 min north of London. It was difficult to get permission but when other farmers hear of a guy who can decimate a groundhog population in a couple of days they will start calling you.

Thanks for the tip! I have done a little scouting around the Woodstock area as I`ve heard its good there too. Dreaming about spring now; -19 on the thermometer:mad:

Don't feel bad about shooting the fawn. If you shot the mom they'd both die. Where I hunt the fawns wouldnt last a second without their mom beside em'.
